About the Institute for Open Innovation

The Institute for Open Innovation (OI) proposes the following five missions in accordance with the Kobe University Vision and supports the process of finding solutions to common problems through government-university-industry collaboration.

The OI assigns Creative Managers with knowledge of business, research and joint development skills to develop open innovation projects and creates opportunities for joint development with diverse companies and local governments to support the creation of new and varied competitive fields.

Vision

Under the Kobe University Vision, the OI assigns human resources capable of promoting the integration of arts and sciences and contributes to the creation of problem-solving innovations in cooperation with regional communities.

Missions

  1. Collaborate with companies on a wide range of common problems; from initial project set-up to the development of effective exit strategies.
  2. Establish appropriate support structures based on the characteristics of each research field to facilitate project success.
  3. Unify the responsibilities and authorities of personnel affairs, evaluations, and budget related to affiliated projects to realize management structures that satisfy company requirements.
  4. Support innovation by improving and modifying incentive systems related to industry-university collaboration and improving the university’s ability to make proposals.
  5. Establish joint development opportunities with diverse organizations that create value, in addition to large-scale research between companies and the university.
